CHARLOTTE — Amélie’s French Bakery & Café isn’t going anywhere — despite rumors swirling about its future.
The popular concept has inked a lease extension for its original location in NoDa, canceling plans for a new flagship store just a mile down the road.
“(The landlord and Amélie’s) mutually agreed it didn’t make sense under the uncertain times to move forward with that deal,” says CEO Frank Reed. “We love the location.”

He says the most important thing is that Amélie’s maintains a presence in NoDa. It also operates stores at Park Road Shopping Center, Carmel Commons in south Charlotte and in Rock Hill.

The restaurant’s uptown location shuttered in November as traffic uptown dwindled, but it may get a second chance.
