CHARLOTTE — Amélie’s French Bakery & Café is giving uptown a second shot.
The popular restaurant plans to renovate and reopen in its former spot at Two Wells Fargo, at the corner of East Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and South College Street.
That location should open around Labor Day, says CEO Frank Reed.
He’s happy to bring Amelie’s back to uptown. That store is one of the largest in terms of footprint and sales volume.
“I didn’t want to leave that one behind,” he says. “The very different design of the space fits hand in glove with our whimsical brand. We’re ecstatic to be able to return to the heart of Charlotte.”
Amelie’s shuttered that roughly 11,000 square-foot store in November 2020. Traffic remained slow uptown as office employees worked from home and tourism dwindled.
