ROBESON COUNTY, N.C. — The North Carolina Center for Missing Persons has canceled an Amber Alert that was issued for a 9-year-old girl Wednesday morning.
Around 3 a.m., officials announced that Mekiya Werrell Strickland was missing after last being seen on Cornith Road.
She was believed to be with her father, 50-year-old Claude Leslie Werrell, according to the Pembroke Police Department.

Around 10 a.m., officials announced that the Amber Alert for Strickland had been canceled.
It is unclear what prompted the alert to be issued.
