Several employees reached out to Channel 9 and said safety measures are not being enforced at local Amazon facilities.

“We’re risking our health, our lives,” said one employee from CLT4, who wanted to remain anonymous.

Earlier this month, Channel 9 reported the company made masks available for workers and daily temperature checks were taking place, but employees said neither are being enforced.

“A lot of people are not wearing masks there. People aren’t even standing six feet apart. They aren’t taking our temperatures like they say they are,” said another employee.

In a statement to Channel 9, Amazon said they implemented a series of preventative measures, including practices to ensure social distancing, such as posting signs, spreading break furniture and staggering shift times. The company also increased cleaning practices. In a voicemail to employees last week, CLT4’s general manager said the site will “begin disinfectant spraying to complement the enhanced cleaning procedures already in place.”

“There are people that come in spray in hazmat suits but where is our safety for us employees that deal with it and deal with it on the daily,” said an employee.
