CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Albemarle Road Middle and Elementary schools were placed on lockdown for a short time Tuesday morning due to police activity in the area, school officials told Channel 9.
Officers responded to an incident involving a stolen vehicle just after 9:30 a.m., and officials said the suspect struck an officer’s car.
Authorities said the officer was not in the car when it was hit, and was not hurt.
The suspect sped off down Snow Lane where they then ran away. Nobody has been arrested and police have not released a suspect description.
The lockdown at the schools was lifted around 10:45 a.m. Tuesday.
