ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. — The Museum of the Albemarle will be opening a new exhibit that will highlight the military life of Perquimans County resident Dorothy Bellamy.
Bellamy, who was born in Martin County, North Carolina, served as a medic in the United States Army Reserves from 1974 until her retirement in 1988. She later moved to Baltimore, Maryland and worked for Union Memorial Hospital as a nurse’s attendant.
Bellamy then joined the Army Reserves in the 92nd Field Hospital as an E-4 because of that training, which she completed at Fort McClellan, Alabama.
