CHARLOTTE — Travel demand is heating up just as airlines are experiencing a pilot shortage.
Airlines are offering huge bonuses to recruit and retain pilots. Industry experts said this is good news, but a sign of poor management.
“During the pandemic, we saw many pilots take early retirements. Management wanted that to save cash at the moment, but they weren’t looking down the street,” said Capt. Dennis Tajer, a spokesperson for the Allied Pilots Association.
