CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Multiple nonprofit groups and agencies such as the American Red Cross and Salvation Army are teaming up to provide aid to those affected by the Catawba River flooding earlier this month.
The Red Cross and Salvation Army, along with the Baptist Men and Hearts and Hands, are asking for volunteers to come out and help. Comfort kits will be delivered to residents Friday in advance of a volunteer day in the community Saturday.
The Baptist Men are hosting that volunteer day from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday.

Those who want to help should report to Calvary Baptist Church at 10301 Harwood Lane. Volunteers are asked to wear long sleeves, pants and sturdy shoes and are encouraged to bring hammers, shovels and pry bars.
Food and water will be provided, but volunteers can also bring their own, along with cleaning supplies to help in the recovery effort.
