CHARLOTTE — Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools and the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department are partnering Thursday to highlight careers in public safety for some local students.

Students in the Career and Technical Education program from Hawthorne Academy of Health and Sciences and Julius L. Chambers High School will rotate through a series of stations showcasing federal, state and local agencies.
The Charlotte Fire Department, Mecklenburg County Emergency Management and CMPD are expected to have mobile units on site. Other agencies at the event include Mecklenburg County ABC, Animal Control and Sheriff’s Office, as well as the North Carolina Wildlife department, the U.S. Secret Service, MEDIC and the U.S. Marines and Navy.
The event runs from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Hawthorne Academy.
