Acclaimed chef set to debut Italian restaurant in NoDa

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Chef Paul Verica’s Italian concept is set to debut in NoDa by the end of next week.

Orto — or “kitchen garden” in Italian — will be a 3,000-square-foot, upscale-casual venture in the Novel NoDa development on 36th Street. That’s adjacent to the Lynx Blue Line’s 36th Street Station.

Verica, who is also behind The Stanley in Charlotte’s Elizabeth neighborhood, says he was drawn to the area’s walkability and boom in apartments.

“We want to be more of a neighborhood place,” he says.

For Verica, the restaurant will draw on his heritage and love for Italian cuisine.
