CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Warm weather is creating the perfect conditions for swarms of mosquitoes.
Parks can be a hot spot for the biting insects when there is a combination of shade and standing water in a creek or in small containers.

These are breeding grounds for mosquitoes and we could see a huge burst of them this weekend in Charlotte.
Storms packing heavy rain and strong wind gusts have moved through, and the area has seen nearly 4 inches above average rainfall for the year.
Damp ground combined with several days of sunshine, warmer temperatures and high humidity cause mosquitoes to spread rapidly.
The biggest problem spots would be backyards or outdoor areas with containers of standing water.
Things such as toys, birdbaths and tarps are good places for mosquitoes to lay their eggs.
In just 1 inch of water with temperatures more than 80 degrees, more than 100 mosquito eggs could be laid.
There have been three travel-related cases of the mosquito-borne Zika virus this year in North Carolina. Last year, there were 98.
Mosquitoes could continue to be a big problem this month, an expert said.
"That's why it's going to explode in June this year, in particular,” Gary Wocjciechowicz said. “I mean, you know how much rain we have had. That's definitely the recipe for a very active mosquito season."
