CHARLOTTE, N.C. — American Airlines’ presence at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport and Charlotte Douglas International Airport makes them some of the largest airline hubs in the world. And in addition to being the airline’s largest, DFW and CLT are the fastest-growing AA hubs.
Through July of this year, more than 34 million American Airlines passengers flew through DFW and nearly 25 million flew through Charlotte. Those represent 5.2% and 3.9% increases respectively from the same time period in 2016.
“A disproportionate amount of our growth is in Dallas and Charlotte,” said Vasu Raja, vice president of Network and Schedule Planning for American Airlines Group Inc. “We’re very fortunate to have those hubs. Those are the No. 2 and No. 3 largest airline hubs on earth. We’re now in a place post our merger of where we really get to go and capitalize on some of the unique advantages they have.”
In an effort to see where Fort Worth, Texas-based American Airlines is growing the most, CBJ’s sister publication, the Dallas Business Journal, examined total AA passenger data this year and compared that to how it’s changed since 2016.
