According to Highway Patrol, the baby’s mother, Kaytlyn Melton, lost control of the vehicle after it hit a large piece of rubber from a truck tire.
Troopers said the SUV hit a guardrail and flipped, but they found the baby safe, still strapped in her car seat after being thrown from vehicle.

“There are crashes that are gonna be insurvivable crashes- they're just so bad, so much damage to the vehicle that a death does occur, but if the child’s restraint is installed correctly, the child's correctly installed in the child restraints- they'll be there after the crash,” said Mark Dillingham with Skyland Fire and Rescue.
Melton and her mother, another passenger in the vehicle are also expected to be OK.
