CHARLOTTE, N.C. — There are new concerns that the Catawba River can’t keep up with growing demand.
Two million people across the area rely on the Catawba River to survive, and the need is growing. Sixty new people move to the area every day, and all of them need water.

It’s not just for drinking. The Catawba River's water keeps homes safe, providing water for firefighters. Hospitals need clean, safe water, and industries need it for manufacturing. Even Carowinds couldn’t function without it.
