OCEAN ISLE BEACH, N.C. — A seven-year-old girl was taken to the hospital with minor injuries after being bitten by a shark at Ocean Isle Beach, according to WWAY and WRAL.
It happened on Sunday morning around 11:30 a.m. while the child was swimming in the water at Ocean Isle Beach, Mayor Debbie Smith said.

Emergency crews responded and took the girl, who was bitten on the calf, to the hospital for treatment. The injuries are not believed to be serious.
Smith said there were no other shark sightings reported Sunday and there is no advisory for swimmers.
