CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Emergency crews transported six people to the hospital after a multi-car crash in east Charlotte early Thursday morning.

First responders were called to the scene on WT Harris Boulevard just south of Albemarle Road around 7 a.m.

A total of five vehicles were involved in the crash and officials said six patients –- three with potentially life-threatening injuries and three with minor injuries -- were taken to Carolinas Medical Center.

The road was blocked while police moved the vehicles and traffic in the area was a headache for drivers.
