HICKORY, N.C. — The City of Hickory had a release of untreated wastewater into a local creek. The estimated amount of wastewater was around 6,600 gallons near Adams Street.
The wastewater was released into an unnamed area of Lyle Creek.
The division of Water Resources has been notified of the incident and is reviewing the area.
A general statute in Hickory requires any owner of a wastewater collection or treatment center to issue a statement when untreated wastewater of 1,000 gallons or more reaches surface waters.
