CHARLOTTE — A 5-year-old boy who was reported missing in north Charlotte has been found safe, according to emergency services.
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department said they received a call that a child named Ezekiel had walked away from home on Penniger Circle Wednesday evening.
Officers, with assistance from the Charlotte Fire Department, were able to locate the child after about two hours.
“The child was located approximately 45 minutes after the search begin in a covert alongside a creek bed. The actual creek was probably no more than 8 inches deep. And CMPD was actually able to ping the child because he was carrying his mom’s phone,” Captain Withers told Channel 9.
Ezekiel was returned back home to his loved ones, according to CMPD.
