CATAWBA COUNTY, N.C. — A 4-year-old died and three other children are in the hospital after a two-car crash in Catawba County.
The North Carolina State Highway Patrol was called around 8 a.m. Thursday to Boggs Road near Hunsucker Drive. They said GMC Acadia was going west on Boggs Road when it crossed the center line and crashed head-on into a GMC Yukon.
According to troopers, a 4-year-old inside the Acadia was taken to the hospital where she died from her injuries. A 12-year-old was also hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the Acadia, a 32-year-old woman, was taken to a local hospital but her injuries weren’t life-threatening.

The driver of the Yukon, a 34-year-old woman, was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Two children in her car were hospitalized: A 2-year-old with life-threatening injuries and a 4-year-old child with non-life-threatening injuries.
At this point, authorities don’t think impairment led to the crash.
Possible charges are pending after the completion of the investigation, according to troopers.
Boggs Road was closed for about two hours during the investigation.
