33-acre estate in Huntersville tops county’s priciest home sales

HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. — Two residential sales in opposite ends of Mecklenburg County topped $4 million in January. One, a 33-acre estate in Huntersville, sold for $4.6 million, while the other, a newly built custom home in Charlotte’s Foxcroft neighborhood, carried a price tag of $4.5 million.

Both are found at the top of last month’s list of the most expensive home sales in the county.

The Huntersville property, on Sample Road near Latta Nature Preserve, contains two homes — a recently built, modern farmhouse in the back area of the parcel as well as a renovated farmhouse in the front area. The land also includes two miles of trails, a four-stall barn, a vegetable garden and a chicken coop, as well as a camping area and a fire pit.

The Foxcroft home, on the 2600 block of Sedley Road, is less than 2 miles from SouthPark mall. It was built by Chiott Custom Homes and completed this year. The Charlotte homebuilder had purchased the 0.45-acre property for $1.11 million in September 2020, demolishing a home that stood at the site last year, according to Mecklenburg County real estate records.

The newly built home has 7,000 square feet and includes five bedrooms, in addition to five full bathrooms and three half-bathrooms.
