Sisters worked at SouthPark Burger King for less than 2 weeks before robbed at gunpoint

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Two sisters said they were working when three men robbed a Burger King at gunpoint Tuesday in south Charlotte.

Police said they responded to the call just after 9:30 p.m. off Sharon Road and Fairview Drive.

"He pushed me to the front to clear out the registers,” said one of the sisters who didn’t want to be identified. “I was like OK, I really hope this gun don't discharge in my back because I have a daughter I have to go home to.”

The two women told Channel 9 they started working at the restaurant a little more than a week ago and thought the armed robbery was a drill at first.

"I was asking the whole time, ‘Is this a joke or is this for real?'" a victim said.

The sisters said the robbers got into the restaurant through an employee side door and were out of the building in less than 15 minutes.

"Once I seen him emptying out the register, I started having an anxiety attack,” one of the sisters said. “My sister asked him, ‘Can she get her pump, can she get her pump, but he paid her no attention whatsoever.”

The victims told Channel 9 that five employees and a customer were inside and another customer was waiting for his orderdrive-thruive thru.

The sisters said the customer inside was also robbed at gunpoint.

"I feel sorry for him because of course you're sitting down at the table doing work on your computer and all of a sudden you have a gun shoved to your head saying, ‘Lay down,’ one of the victims said. “That's kind of scary."

The sisters said they are thankful they were not injured.

"I would hate for my family to get a knock or call on their phone saying that we got killed or hurt or anything, so I'm really thankful,” a sister said.

Channel 9 asked police if the armed robbery is linked to recent robberies in the area, but officers couldn’t confirm it.

No further information has been released.
