Witnesses say 3 injured in west Charlotte drive-by shooting

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Three people were injured in a drive-by shooting Friday night in west Charlotte, police said.

Emergency responders were called to the site of the shooting in a parking lot of a shopping center in the 1500 block of West Boulevard.

Police said the male victims were standing outside when a car drove up and an occupant started shooting.

A business and another car were also hit by bullets.

The victims were taken to the hospital with serious wounds.

“Let this be a lesson to you because the next time it could be worse,” said Marion Anderson, an aunt of one of the victims.

Channel 9 reporter DaShawn Brown saw several shell casings on the ground.

“That's why I don't be out here like that because there's no telling who did what to somebody,” said Sonny Ross, who knows one of the victims.

Police respond to second shooting in west Charlotte within two hours

A couple hours later, about three miles away, in the 1200 block of Effingham Road, another person was found with gunshot wounds.
