LINCOLN COUNTY, N.C. — Three people are facing charges after a 16-year-old was found dead in Lincolnton earlier this month, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office announced Friday.
The sheriff’s office began investigating after the teen was found on Whitehouse Road on Dec. 15. Investigators said he was shot and left on the side of a road. The victim was identified as Edwin Morales.
On Friday, detectives got arrest warrants for three suspects accused of first-degree murder.
The suspects were identified as 20-year-old Michael Dujuan Byrd of Kings Mountain, 17-year-old Isaiah Dashawn Lipscomb of Clover, South Carolina, and 35-year-old Larue Dean Lipscomb Jr. of Gastonia. They’re also being charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon and kidnapping.
The sheriff’s office says Byrd and Isaiah Lipscomb were taken into custody earlier on Friday. Just after 10 p.m., authorities said Larue had been taken into custody.
The sheriff’s office said the investigation is still ongoing.
