2nd child shot in Charlotte in less than 24 hours, police say

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are investigating after a child was shot Sunday in north Charlotte.

Officers were called to the scene on Rodey Avenue near Isenhour Street.

Police said the child was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries. Officials believe the injuries are non-life-threatening.

Authorities said they are not looking for any suspects at this time. No other details have been released.

This is the second child to be shot in Charlotte in less than 24 hours.

A 2-year-old was killed after accidentally shooting himself with his father’s gun Saturday night, officers said. The father, 24-year-old Antonio Cureton, is being charged for his son’s death, according to police.
