IREDELL COUNTY, N.C. — A 34-year-old Statesville man is in jail under a $2 million bond after he was accused of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl for months.
Jason Shoemaker is charged with felony statutory rape of a child less than 15 years of age and felony statutory sex offense with a child under 15 years of age.
A report on the sexual assaults was filed with the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office in January 2018. The 14-year-old accuser told deputies that the assaults occurred between August 2017 and January 2018 at various houses where Shoemaker lived during that time.
Shoemaker was arrested on Wednesday.
Channel 9 is asking how Shoemaker and the accuser knew each other.
