CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Dozens of Charlotte families have a new place to call home thanks to the Habitat for Humanity of Charlotte.
The organization hosted a celebration for 27 homeowners who put in sweat equity to help build their homes and complete 15 weeks of financial literacy classes.
"It's really a huge milestone. Many of these folks have wanted and longed for their own home for many, many years,” said Laura Belcher, president and CEO of Habitat for Humanity of Charlotte. “To have the discipline and commitment to follow through on that, it's absolutely a milestone worth marking and celebrating."
Several elected officials from the city and county were in attendance to celebrate the special occasion.
