CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, S.C. — A 2.4 magnitude earthquake was recorded at 7:42 p.m. Friday in Chesterfield County, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
The quake’s epicenter in Jefferson was about 30 miles southeast of Union County.
No damage or injuries were reported in Chesterfield County, officials with county emergency management said.
The South Carolina Emergency Management Division tweeted, “If you were near the epicenter, we know you felt this earthquake, and it can literally be unsettling, but please do not call 911 to ask if it was an earthquake. Only call 911 if you have a life-threatening emergency.”
