CHARLOTTE, N.C. — This year's CIAA basketball tournament had an impact of more than $50 million on Charlotte's economy.
The Charlotte Regional Visitors Association said that came from money spent directly on hotels, food and shopping.

It also includes money that businesses spent on advertising and marketing.
This year’s financial impact was 6 1/2 percent higher than the impact last year.
