2 young men dead after ‘financial transaction’ leads to shooting in Rowan Co., deputies say

ROWAN COUNTY, N.C. — Deputies are investigating a fatal shooting Friday morning that left two young men dead in Rowan County.

Salisbury police were called around 2:15 a.m. to the Novant Medical Center after a man who had been shot was dropped off.

Officials said the victim, 19-year-old Jatice Wactor, was going to be flown to another hospital for treatment, but died shortly after the helicopter took off.

Shortly after 3:30 a.m., another man, 16-year-old D’andra Scott, was found dead on Grove Street in Salisbury, which is near the hospital.

Investigators said they were able to make a connection between the two victims and determined the shooting happened in a driveway on Woodleaf Road.

Deputies believe Wactor and Scott got into a car parked in the driveway for a “financial transaction,” but after an argument, they began shooting at each other.

Authorities said they were both being taken to the hospital in separate cars, but Scott died before getting there and was left on Grove Street.

No other details have been released.

Anyone with information on this case is asked to contact Salisbury-Rowan Crime Stoppers at 1-866-639-5245.
