HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. — Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools confirmed to Channel 9 it was aware of two sexual assault allegations at Hopewell High School.
The district said they knew about the two accusations alleging incidents from Fall 2021. Both were referred to the schools Title IX office, CMS said.
The Huntersville Police Department said it could not share any information because of the nature of the offense and because both involved minors.

The allegations come after students and parents raised concerns for months over the way CMS has handled sexual assault cases. Channel 9 has investigated the issue and has spoken with the superintendent, sexual assault victims, and several students who all say the district needs to change its Title IX policies.
In December, the Title IX task force for CMS released 67 recommendations to improve compliance with Title IX. Among the suggestions, students on the force asked for gender-inclusive language, information on dating violence and peer pressure, realistic examples and Title IX instructor training. They asked for mental health support and more attention in the curriculum to the physical, mental, and emotional trauma assault causes.
