Channel 9 crews could see tangled power lines and the pole snapped in half. Crews had the road blocked in both directions before dawn as they worked on repairs but were able to reopen the road by 7 a.m.
On Park Road near Selwyn Avenue in south Charlotte, it was a similar scene. Channel 9 crews saw a power pole leaning over, snapped at the base with just the power lines holding it up.
Police said a driver hit the pole just after midnight, knocking out power to about 200 homes in the area on a very cold morning.
Duke Energy crews said they would have to replace the pole and it was unclear when the road would reopen.
No injuries were reported in either collision.
