CHARLOTTE — Two crashes shut down parts of the inner loop on Interstate 485 in south Charlotte Friday morning.
The inner loop of I-485 near South Boulevard was closed after 6 a.m. due to a crash, and traffic was being diverted onto South Boulevard. It was the second crash within hours on I-485 Inner. One person was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, MEDIC said.
All lanes were back open just after 7:45 a.m, but delays still remained.

The first crash happened around 3:30 a.m. and shut down the interstate near Pineville-Matthews Road in Pineville, putting traffic at a standstill.
The North Carolina State Highway Patrol told Channel 9 that two separate incidents caused the first closure. One person was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, and another was transported with serious injuries, according to MEDIC.
Ch. 9′s Gina Esposito was on scene and could see police fully blocking traffic as they worked to clear the area.
