CHARLOTTE — Two people and two animals are safe Friday morning after escaping a heavy house fire in the Ballantyne West area, officials said.
The Charlotte Fire Department said they responded to the fire at a two-story townhome on Goosefoot Street near Lancaster Highway around 7:30 a.m.
Channel 9 crews could see significant damage to the garage of the townhome when they arrived at the scene.

No serious injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
