CHARLOTTE — On Friday, a COVID-19 cluster was reported at Kindercare Providence in Mecklenburg County.
At the child care center, six children have tested positive for the virus.
On Tuesday, COVID-19 clusters were reported at Heaven’s Angels Childcare in Charlotte and East Union Middle School in Union County.

At Heaven’s Angels, nine students and two staff members tested positive for the virus. At East Union Middle, five staff members tested positive.

In a childcare or school setting, a cluster is defined as at least five cases within a 14-day period.
Health officials are calling it a “cluster” rather than an “outbreak” because of the setting, which makes it harder to figure out how the spread happened and whether it occurred from within the facility or the community.
