LENOIR, N.C. — Two people were killed and four others were injured in a head-on crash in Lenoir, police said.
The crash happened Tuesday evening near the intersection of Lower Creek Drive and Taylorsville Road.
Investigators said 79-year-old Joseph Noll was driving west on Lower Creek Drive with his wife 84-year-old Barbara Noll. Authorities said they collided with 38-year-old Natasha Wells, who was driving east on Lower Creek Drive.
Wells' passengers were her three nieces, ages 2, 4, and 9.
Officials said Joseph Noll and Wells' 4-year-old niece died as a result of their injuries.
Paramedics transported Barbara Noll to Caldwell UNC Healthcare. She was later airlifted to North Carolina Baptist. Officials said she is listed as being in critical condition.
The 2-year-old and the 9-year-old were initially transported to Caldwell UNC Healthcare, but were later taken to North Carolina Baptist. They are both said to be in stable condition.
Wells received minor injuries and was not treated.
Officials said the investigation is still ongoing. No other information was released at this time.
