CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department took two people into custody Wednesday morning who may be connected to a carjacking.

A man said two people stole his Chrysler 300 at gunpoint around 2:30 a.m. on Tom Hunter Road near Sugar Creek Road.
Around 90 minutes later, police said they spotted the car on North Tryon Street at Sugar Creek Road and tried to stop it, but the driver took off.
Officers were following the car for about a mile when it flipped and crashed on Yuma Street.

The driver and passenger were both taken to Carolinas Medical Center, but are expected to be OK.
According to CMPD, a stolen gun was found in the car.
No additional information has been released.
