LANCASTER, S.C. — Two people are dead after a crash in Lancaster on Monday afternoon, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
The incident occurred just before 3 p.m. on U.S. Highway 521.
Deputies said a 2002 Toyota Pickup that was towing a boat stopped in the outside lane of U.S. Highway 521. A man and a woman exited the vehicle and were inspecting a problem near the rear of the truck when the boat and trailer were struck by a Buick.

The woman, later identified as Kirstie Underwood, died at the scene. The man, later identified as Timmy “TJ” Underwood, was transported to MUSC-Lancaster, where he died shortly after arrival.
The driver of the Buick suffered injuries and is in the hospital.
The crash is still under investigation.
