CHARLOTTE — A person who bought a Powerball ticket at a Charlotte grocery store won a $1 million prize, according to the North Carolina Education Lottery.
The winner bought the ticket at the Harris Teeter on South Tryon Street. The $2 ticket matched all five white balls. The chance of this happening is 1 in 11.6 million.
The winner has 180 days from the drawing to claim their prize.
No one won Saturday’s jackpot, which means the prize climbed to $900 million with an annuity or $465.1 million in cash. for Monday’s drawing. The odds of winning a Powerball jackpot are 1 in 292 million.
Tuesday’s Mega Millions drawing is at $530 million annuity or $304.7 million in cash.
The Mega Million jackpot has been growing since April and now ranks as the eighth largest in the history of the game.
