CMPD: 18-year-old kidnapped girl found safe; suspect arrested

Jada Lanise Latimer

CHARLOTTE — Detectives said an 18-year-old girl who hadn’t been seen since she got into a fight with a man Wednesday morning has been found and is safe.

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department said officers responded just before 11:20 a.m. on Wednesday to a domestic disturbance call on Albemarle Road.

When they got there, officers said they learned that Jada Lanise Latimer had gotten into a fight with 22-year-old Christopher Bailey, who she knew. Following the fight, officers said they could not find Latimer and they believed she may have been in immediate danger with Bailey.

Warrants for first-degree kidnapping and assault on a female were issued against Bailey, who was arrested and booked into jail late Wednesday.

On Thursday morning, police announced that Latimer was found safe and is OK and that Bailey was arrested by VCAT officers on Wednesday night.

No other details have been released.
