CHARLOTTE — An 18-year-old man has been charged with murder in the death of his 66-year-old grandfather in northwest Charlotte, police said.

Shortly after noon on Thursday, Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officers went to a home on Glasgow Road off of Moores Chapel Road and found an injured Horace Cook. He died at the scene, police said.
Detectives identified his grandson, Nicholas Smith, as the suspect and arrested him without incident on an outstanding warrant.
Smith was found nearby in Cook’s vehicle.
In addition to the murder charge, Smith faces armed robbery and larceny of a firearm charges.
The investigation into this case is active and ongoing.
