16-year-old girl killed, another teen hurt in Chester County crash

CHESTER COUNTY, S.C. — A 16-year-old girl was killed and another teenager was injured Wednesday morning in a single-car wreck in Chester County, the Highway Patrol said.

At about 10:50 a.m., a 2002 Honda Accord was heading south on Pine Ridge Road, three miles east of Chester, when it ran off the road, overturned and hit a fence and a tree.

The driver, a 16-year-old boy who was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown from the car. he was flown to the hospital, troopers said. A 16-year-old girl, who was the passenger, died at the scene. Investigators said she was also not wearing a seat belt and was thrown from the car during the crash.

No names have been released and officials have not released the condition of the teen boy.

The collision remains under investigation.
