Lancaster High School student Thomas Montgomery said he heard about the shooting on social media.
Students said they have not heard anything about the shooting from school officials.
"They haven't said anything about it, like on the announcement. They usually do though," student Alyssa Vincent said.
Montgomery said many people said the victim was a really good person.
"It's a good thing that he actually got caught for doing something. I mean your 16, you don't have business doing that kind of stuff," Montgomery said.
