15-year-old boy charged after girl says she was sexually assaulted at Olympic High School

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A 15-year-old boy has been charged after a girl said she was sexually assaulted at Olympic High School in southwest Charlotte, police said.

According to authorities, the victim said it happened at the school Monday afternoon.

The 15-year-old, who knew the victim, was later found by police. He was charged with attempted second-degree rape, second-degree kidnapping and sexual battery.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools sent Channel 9 the following statement on the alleged assault:

“We are aware of a report of an alleged assault of a student on the campus. Law enforcement launched an immediate investigation and an arrest has been made. As this is an ongoing investigation, we are unable to discuss the details of this case. We are not aware of any message being sent to families. We have been in contact with CMPD and will continue to provide any support needed.”
