CHARLOTTE — Police are looking for whoever shot and killed a man Wednesday night inside an apartment on Saratoga Drive, which is near Freedom Drive in northwest Charlotte.

The shooting was called into 911 dispatchers at about 9:30 p.m. When officers arrived at the apartment, they found 22-year-old Rodarius Meaders, who had been shot.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Channel 9 learned Meaders’ father is a member of Team Trublue, a local group that works to put an end to violence in Charlotte.

"When I found out it was him, it was just devastating for all of us, because of the work we do in the community,” said Team Trublue’s Will Adams. “It hit home hard."

Adams said the Meaders family has been involved with Team Trublue since it started.

“When Team Trublue was formed, (Meaders) was very adamant about being a part of it. He was at every meeting,” Adams said.

No arrests have been made, and police have not said what may have led to the shooting.

"We just beg and plead with anybody regardless of your age, regardless of your race,” Adams said. “We just beg you to put the guns down.”
