GASTONIA, N.C. — One person has died following a shooting Thursday night, according to the Gastonia Police Department.
The incident occurred around 8:45 p.m. on South Weldon Street near Garrison Boulevard.
Police said 30-year-old Darnell Shanquavius Fowler got into a domestic dispute with his girlfriend’s father, 53-year-old Gerald Lee Humphries Sr.
Both men were armed during the dispute, according to police.

During the confrontation, Fowler fatally shot Humphries.
Police said Fowler was taken into custody and is being held at the Gaston County jail charged with a firearms violation.
This case is being reviewed by the Gaston County District Attorney’s Office and remains under investigation.
