No charges filed in deadly shooting outside southeast Charlotte apartments

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police announced Monday that no charges will be filed in a deadly shooting that happened in the parking lot of a southeast Charlotte apartment complex last summer.

Quandarro McCleary, 27, was found shot at around 5 p.m. on Aug 14 at The Madison Apartments Calibre Crossing Drive off East Independence Boulevard.

He was taken to a hospital, where he later died.

According to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, the shooter drove to another location on Margaret Wallace Road, where he called 911.

After an investigation, police said the shooter acted in self-defense and no charges will be filed.
