Man charged with killing 33-year-old in University City tavern shooting

CHARLOTTE — A man was killed just after midnight Saturday after a shooting inside the NC Tavern on University City Boulevard, Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said.

The shooting victim, 33-year-old James Thomas Davis Jr., died at the scene.

At around 11:30 a.m., police arrested Ronald Bernard Walker, 41, and charged him with murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

No further information has been released.
