CHARLOTTE — A 13-year-old girl in the passenger seat of a car was killed in a late Tuesday afternoon wreck along Interstate 485 in west Charlotte, the North Carolina State Highway Patrol said in a news release on Wednesday.

Multiple vehicles, including a tractor-trailer, were involved in the crash at about 5:50 p.m. near the Moores Chapel Road exit.

The tractor-trailer was stopped in the exit lane for Exit 10B onto Interstate 85 due to heavy traffic.

A white Chevy passenger car collided with the rear of the tractor-trailer crossed over all lanes, and hit a white pick-up truck, NCSHP said.

The driver of the car had serious injuries and was taken to Atrium Health CMC
