Pageland police arrest, charge suspect in murder of 18-year-old

PAGELAND, S.C. — Pageland Police have arrested and charged a suspect in the shooting death of 18-year old Debias Tyrese Pate.

Police charged 22-year-old Quinntavious Lockhart with murder.

Police told Channel 9's Greg Suskin they are still investigating this case and more arrests could be made.

Pate was shot and killed Saturday afternoon on North Elm Street.

The Chesterfield County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call just before 5:15 p.m. Saturday, reporting an adult male had been shot.

The Pageland Police Department responded to the scene with emergency personnel. Pate was transported to CMC-Monroe, where he was pronounced dead.

Pageland Police said an investigation into the cause and circumstances surrounding the shooting is underway.

An initial investigation indicated multiple subjects came to the scene of the incident for a confrontation. Police say as the subjects fled the scene, shots were fired and Pate was struck.
