MATTHEWS, N.C. — A pedestrian was hit and killed by a train in Matthews, MEDIC confirmed Monday evening.
It happened just after 8 p.m. near E. Charles Street and Crestdale Road. Matthews police said one man was killed. He was identified as 36-year-old Kellen Truman Crosson of Matthews.
Police said he was walking on or near the tracks when he was hit.
A Channel 9 crew at the scene said the incident appeared to involve a Norfolk Southern freight train.
The investigation is ongoing.
